Illimani is one of the highest peaks in Bolivia and is clearly seen from La Paz.

My friends and I hired a tour company to take us on an ATV trek through the Andes and around Illimani. The 60+ mile tour started in La Paz and wound its way up to the snow line and the base camp for ascends the mountain. We rented a horse pasture from a local farmer to camp for the evening. We were surrounded by lush and terraced farmland. We were far out of the city and very deep into what felt like authentic Bolivian culture.
