Huajchilla is a small village to the South of La Paz. About a 45-minute drive from the big city, it is a perfect place to stay to soak up the Bolivian culture.

If you aren’t a fan of the big city and prefer something on the outskirts, then Huajchilla would be a good candidate. There are several developments with nice houses on the Irpavi river valley. There is some good hiking from the river. Though, unofficially marked, you can befriend the locals and they’ll have no issues with you crossing their property to climb the nearby mountains. The river valley is lined with farmland, cows and farmers.
