Salt Lake City from The Living Room Trail

Downtown Salt Lake City
View of downtown Salt Lake City from The Living Room trail. An easily accessible hike from downtown, and only 2.5 miles round trip.
I was staying in a hotel near the University of Utah in Salt Lake City and found The Living Room trail as a super easy access trail. It was only about a mile from the hotel and was a quick way to access the Red Butte Canyon trail system. The hike itself is short at about 1.5 miles, but it quickly gets you access to some beautiful views of the city, as well as the surrounding mountain ranges. You can also access several other trails that venture farther into the Canyon. The trail is well travelled and of moderate difficulty; It gains about 1000 feet in just over a mile.

I suppose they call it "The Living Room" because it hosts views worthy of being hung in your living room. Or perhaps it's because at the end of the trial there is a system of benches that look more like couches that folks have built over the years. It's definitely a place to catch a sunset, or even a sunrise if you're an early riser.
