Huayna Potosi is a big mountain just outside of La Paz.

La Paz is full of adventurous activities, and one of them is the opportunity to summit Huayna Potosi. Though, this is no easy feat as the mountain tops out at 6000 meters. It is technically an easy route, but the elevation makes it very strenuous. My climbing party made the attempt in two days. The first day was a hike up to high-camp where we rested until about midnight. Unfortunately, a blizzard arrived which prevented us from making the summit attempt. The plan was to start climbing at 1:00AM to reach the summit by 7:00AM and back down by noon. The best thing about this climb is that it is so close to La Paz. You can spend a week acclimatizing in La Paz and then make the short drive to base camp.
