It's easy enough to rent a couple mopeds and drive through the neighborhoods to catch a view of Diamond Head.

While visiting in Honolulu I was disappointed with how many people were there. One of our strategies for avoided the hoards was to rent mopeds and drive away from it all. It was easy enough to drive through town, and we set our sights on the highest point we could see. Once we got there we got an awesome view of Diamond Head. Of course, going to the Diamond Head State Monument itself is worth the trip, it is very busy. Certainly, busier than a random residential street.
